29/4/2008 Well things are really picking up the pace, More donations are coming in all the time and My first article in New Zealand Multisport and Triathlete has come out. It's a lot bigger than what I thought it was going to be taking up two full pages, I have to confess it made me feel a little ill getting all the attention. You can see it (well a miniature one) at nothings too hard media page If you want to read it your just going to have to buy the magazine.
9/4/2008Many of you will not know this but my partner Adrian is also doing the Tenzing-Hillary Marathon with me and has been putting in the hours of running as well. Last week we did a 24km run out and around the Waitaks, but this time we decided to wear our full pack kit which includes all of the compulsory gear, hydration and nutrition that we will be taking with us on the race....all I can say was bloody hell!!!. The packs probably weighed in at around 5-6kg's each and whilst we have been running with packs on our back since commencement of our training sessions this added weight certainly gave us a bit of a gentle shock. Nevertheless, we managed to complete our runs albeit a little more tired than usual. As the km's increase we will continue to run with our packs in order to continue to simulate the conditions as best we can. Donations are going well and PR plan is currently being put together by Elissa from the Heart Foundation - very exciting!!
3/4/2008Wow what a whirlwind week this has been. Today I had my first television interview with Maori television. Other than initially looking like a possum stuck in the headlights I quickly relaxed and found the interview lots of fun in the end. I managed to thank my sponsor Earth Sea Sky and got to promote my charity the HEart Foundation. I am hoping that they keep this information in the interview as with any tv station they tend to slash and burn. I also received an email today from Media Unlimited and they have allowed me to write regular articles in Multisport Magazine promoting my cause and following my progress as I complete each of my events in support of the HEart Foundation and they want my first article in 3 days time!!!! so I best get going now and start writing my first piece.
31/3/2008Have looked at my calender and realised that Adrian and I now only have 6 weeks to go until we leave for Nepal. We are both getting really excited now.....equipment is starting to come together and training is ticking along quite nicely. I launched my fundraising website on Friday 28th March and have had a good initial response - including one from the man himself - Cameron Brown. I start working on the corporate letters this week as well as our own personal website which will also document the events that I will be doing. Feeling extremely positive about my project and am quietly confident that I will achieve my goal.
